turtles

It depends on the species you're working with. Most turtles will be interested in chasing or eating fish. If the fish is slow enough or small enough, it can quickly become food. Having said that, I've seen many large setups where larger fish and turtles co-exist well. You just have to be sure to meet the needs of the turtle, making sure it gets food before the fish can consume it, and making sure it receives UVB and has a spot to bask.

Not all turtles eat fish. Terrapins do not eat live fish, as they can not catch them.

Buttttt... turtles are VERY messy, so you would have to make sure your filtration is in tact, and make sure the turtle is getting the space needed.

In general, bad idea.

I have had a pair of 4" Cumberland Sliders (RES subspecies) with 7 Mosquito Fish, a 6" Comet Goldfish, and a 5" Mozambique Tilapia for about 9 months now. The turtles realized the couldn't catch any of the fish back when they were tiny little things and have never regained interest, even though they can now. If you have adequate space for the fish to escape and keep the turtles well fed, you will have minimal losses. I feed them 3 different brands of pellets (including Hikari), cut up shrimp, Massivore, chopped lettuce, bits of turkey, and some other stuff that I cannot remember (its late lol).

i had a map and a soft shell with fish for about 6 months no problems what so ever. but the turtles are in diff tank now. cause they grew out of tank.

A lot a folks keep turtles with fish. There are many different types of fresh water turtles with different requirements. But as said above, they are very messy!!!

can the map turtles be fully aquatic
