a whole foot 20L 30 inch a 40 either 36 or 48 and a 60 48inches not really much difference the tank is too smal width wise you can only grow to the same size breeder tanks or rubbermaid tubs or ponds should be looked at for the minimum.......

I don't use tanks for turtles ever, but I still don't understand what you mean. Maybe add some punctuation to your writing.

sorry I type really quick and use a cingular 8525 pda....the tanks I listed 20L-60 gallon are all 12inch deep... ie 30"&12"
or 48"x12"... when you look at them they are all the same and a breeder tank is 36x18 and a much better tank to consider for a turtle.... I use rubbermaid tubs and ponds for mine.... hope this clears that up...

That's called MARKETING. The picture on the box is meant to try to sell you the product, not let you know how to properly care for the species.

Those "turtle tank" setups made by Zoo-Med or Exo-Terra aren't worth the materials they are made of and you can get a much more quality setup by doing your research and buying supplies individually.

That being said, I agree, a 36x18 tank footprint is more or less the minimum for even the smallest map, mud, or musk turtle species.

I personally think a 30 Breeder sized tank is perfect for smaller aquatic turtles. It is the same footprint (36x18) as a 40 breeder, but isn't as tall. You can fill it about 1/2 up, have a decent volume of water, and the turtles can bask much closer to the UVB lights than they would in a 40 Breeder.

20L = 20 Gallon Long

20H = 20 Gallon High

If that helps to clear anything up!:D
:thumbsup: Much appreciated. I was thinking the L meant Litres, not 'long'.

Whilst footprint is very important for swimming room, the 10G per inch rule also takes into account the volume of waste turtles produce, and 10G of water per inch of turtle usually dilutes waste to a healthy level for atleast a week, assuming the tank is filtered properly for a turtle.

Anyway, cheers VF.
