Hey,
I've tried the MFK "SEARCH" engine, but it was not responding :nilly:
Also is it possible to EDIT a post?

I have a 6" BGK in my 66g tank & I have introduced a second 10" BGK last night. It's been over 12 hours & they seem to be at peace with each other. In case you are wondering, I am having a go at finding a compatible pair for breeding :naughty:

My BGK has interacted indirectly & non aggressively with the 10" BGK. They have spent heaps of time in the same driftwood area head to tail, but there was driftwood between them. No they were not chacing or anything like that. Just hovering back & forth an inch & they have swam past each other on occasion.

The newcomer seem to have picked a spot to lounge in & my BGK is back in it's tube as well, every time it thinks it's getting a feed
What am I looking for or not looking for? How do I know they have accepted each other or they going to fight etc.

The 10" BGK is not eating & it may take a while for it to eat I know.
My water is pH7.4 & a bare bottom tank with fair bit of driftwood. Total tank turnover is ~4x using two canisters. There are 10 cichlids in the tank on top of the 2 BGK...
Any input would be appreciated :headbang2
Cheers

Offered the same food as my BGK is offered, FBW (Frozen Blood Worms), 1mm NLS & soaked Hikari. The newcomer seems relaxed. Laying on it's side most of the time sleeping. It is pretty much in the same area most of the time, but it comes out turns around & goes back in the log. I am not sure what to make of this behavior.

My Ghost never sleeps & it's always seem alert. It is pretty much in the same area most of the time, but it comes out turns around & goes back in the log :grinno:
Cheers

Well it has been 24 hours & no sign of fighting or anything aggressive
Both BGK's seem to spend a lot of time near each other, in the same driftwood area. One is under the driftwood & the other is over. So some timber is separating them from touching, but they are half an inch apart. I sure hope I got a male & a female & will get spawns :naughty:

I know it may take a week for the newcomer to start eating, it took about 4 days with my first one. I'll try some blood worm in the morning for the whole tank. The cichlids think it's Christmas every time I feed FBW

Will try to have a better look at both to spot any sex relating differences & update as things progress :grinno:
Cheers

make sure you have a few different hiding places available they will be ok i have seen 7 12"+ bgk kept together by a very accomplished fish breeder.

Good Luck! Just keep an eye on them. Even though aggression didn't happen overnight, it can still pop up anytime.

Thanks for your support guys!
The 10" BGK has a red spot on it's tail, where its white near the tip since yesterday I think. I recon it is getting more intense red & larger in size.

The 6" BGK has a bit of an overbite & pitch black eyes. A really good looking specimen. Nice clean white bands on the tail. I am punting it's a male because of the overbite & the eye color..
The 10" BGK had the mouth partially open when I was looking for the head shape & eyes etc. The eyes seemed cloudy or grayish. I am punting it's a female at this stage.

There must be an age gap between the two, but that should not have to do much with the eyes color.

There are enough hiding places, but I'll try get some more!
Cheers

Well It's been over a week now & the newcomer (10" BGK) is fairly active.
It's feeding with lights on or off. My lighting is not strong tough.

It's amazing site when the two BGK's are undulating about, hoovering up the food around the tank at feeding time
What is even more taking is they don't bug the cichlids during feeding or other-times.

I got some more driftwood today. Two large hardwood pieces just under 2 feet long & @ 1.5 feet. They've been used in a tank for years so hopefully I won't be making tea :grinno:

I think my BGK (6") is more active since it is not alone & it encouraged the other to be more active as well I recon :naughty:
Cheers

well I will say first I am new to having a BGK. Mine is about 3" long and still young.
I only have one, and so I have no idea about if it will fight with another or not at this point. I have however seen several in the same tank were they were getting along fine. All my reading says they can become aggressive, but its not always the case. Main reason I heard it was not good to have more than one was they use electric vibes to move around and find food. So when there is two in there, it makes it harder to tell due to both having the same electric vibes.
only info I have till I learn more.. :)
