Two Devils in a 90gal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LowCel, that is an awesome female. She should be a breeder and pass along the genetics. That is an awesome head for a female. Nice color also.

As far as them getting along it always depends on the fish themselves. My RDs did well together, had a few spawns together, then out of the blue the male "snaps" and kills the female. he is about 10inches and he definetely lives by his self. I don't think I could put anything else in the tank with him at this point.

she is absoloutly beautiful! how much did you pay for them if you dont mind?

I paid $4 or so about eight years ago. She was only an inch or so long and I just picked her up at a local pet store. The other devils I have came from Rapps and Davis so they cost a little more, they are pure though. I can't say the same for Lucy, the one pictured above.

So do you think I should go a head and separate them until they hit a nice Size???

They will still reach the same size, eventually. It might just take them a little bit longer. If you're looking for the fastest growth rate possible, then I personally would separate them as soon as they start focusing a lot of energy on baby-making rather than themselves.

I kept my female Red Devil in a 55 for 3 years but I finally got rid of her because she was not having any tank mates!!

Gorgeous female...I keep my male and female in a 90 by themselves. When i first introduced the female to the 90 i had to buy eggcrate for a divider until he got used to her. Then i cut holes just big enough for her to get through but not him to cut down on regular beatings. He tries to beat her up all the time but she just jets through the eggcrate away from him and then back into the main tank when he calms down. I recently took out the eggcrate and added a huge plastic plant for her to get out of sight when he gets grumpy(which is about every 5-10 mins).
