Hey guys so I found two different gars for sell. I am wondering what they are. Can you ID them from these pictures?

The first one is labeled a gator, but I am not very familiar with them so wanted to see what other people thought.

May be a gator. Second one definitely isn't I believe.

first pic is a gator gar, second pic is a florida.

don't buy the gator lol and don't buy the florida unless you've got a 200 gallon+ tank in my honest opinion. They can live in smaller tanks for a while but ultimately they can get rather large.

you were on the right track hendre, you can always tell a gator gar by those soulless killer eyes lol...the only other gar that has a similar look is the Cuban gar. Gator gars always look like they need to grow into their fins too when young, kind of like how a giant dog will have huge feet as a puppy. Floridas, spotted and longnoses always look more proportional with their finnage even at younger ages.

I'm no expert, I took an educated guess. The second one was no gator or similar, at least I knew that

lol all good you were correct. There are, ya know, the scientific ways of IDing gars via snout length and shape etc etc...but I've never seen a pic of a gar that I couldn't at least discern between gator or otherwise just from the overall general evil look of them hahaha.
