you were on the right track hendre, you can always tell a gator gar by those soulless killer eyes lol...the only other gar that has a similar look is the Cuban gar. Gator gars always look like they need to grow into their fins too when young, kind of like how a giant dog will have huge feet as a puppy. Floridas, spotted and longnoses always look more proportional with their finnage even at younger ages.

There are, ya know, the scientific ways of IDing gars via snout length and shape etc etc...but I've never seen a pic of a gar that I couldn't at least discern between gator or otherwise just from the overall general evil look of them hahaha.I'm no expert, I took an educated guess.
