I agreed with WahooWillie, these sunfish are not green but they are actually redbreasts. Redbreast lacks of black spot in dorsal and anal fins and also lack of white/pink spot on the ear. Also the mouth isn't quite large through I can understand why you mistake them as greens as redbreasts can have big mouth but not that big. Also redbreast sunfish are not that big sunfish compared to Green sunfish which can reach more than 10 inches.

At 4'' that male should / could have a longer ear tab, but there can always variation between individuals.
