just wanted to share some pics...hope you like them :)

i call this guy an endli variant :D it was imported from Guinea, but those with guinea endli will know that this guy is very different and unlike any other guinea endli. whats more interesting about it is the 4th pic (from over 2yrs ago). thats what it looks like the first month or two after i got it.

pretty interesting, maybe throw up a pic of a normal endli for a comparison

heres the 2nd one. its the dark one in the pics. i only noticed after taking these dorsal shots that its got this interesting circular pattern on its head, which i find pretty cool. more pics to come. i wanted to see what you guys think this bichir is...so fire away :)

that is very odd how it is so dark....perhaps this one comes from a much darker place....(no not hell lol) idk i guess you could call it a variant then couldn't you.

The circular pattern on the head is very similar to one pictured in Frank Schafer's Aqualog Polypterus book that I believe is a variant of P. endlicheri congicus captured in Lake Tanganyika. I don't have the book in front of me right now and can't remember exactly what he called it but he did specifically point out the unusual head pattern of the fish.

Polypterus sp.affinis congicus I believe is what Schafer reffered to it as-Anne

sp.affinis= species affinis
defined:affinis = related to but not identical with, affinity, relationship, sometimes misleadingly employed as a synonym for phenetic similarity (or akin to).
