the circular pattern does look similar to the one in the aqualog book, but at the same time its not as prominent. i got this fish at the same time as the congicus you see in the pic, so i would assume they came from the same shipment....don't know for sure though.
another thing i find interesting is how much its dorsal patterns look like a P. endlicheri endlicheri, in fact you would think its an endli if you just look at the top. its side patterns are quite unique too, but its some sorta congicus variant for sure.

ps. the sand is 3M Colorquartz, with a little CaribSea African Cichlid Sand mixed in for buffering (the black and white grains you see). the color mixture of the 3M sand is 3:2:1 of tan:buff:brown. the 3M colorquartz aren't sold in LFS, so you need to call 3M and find out whos your nearest distributor of the stuff. they come in 50lb bag and is generally $20-$25 per bag depending on where you are.
