Hello,

Can I keep 2 red texas cichlids together in this aquarium? I don't know how territorial they are. I'm not sure on the gender they are both about 3".

Thanks!

NO they need at least 500!!!

j/k .... i think thats a little tooo much space for them, but they would love the space. You'll probably be tempted to add more fish, thats alot of empty space, but more power to you if you can just keep 2 in a 240.

Hey sorry I wasn't clear. I have a lot of other fish in there. I was just worried abotu them being aggressive to each other. The seller told me not keep them together, but I don't know if he understood what size tank I was talking about, his english isn't good.

Yeah, pat's english isn't so good but he's a nice guy. And I agree with midasman714 about your SRTs. They would be to busy enjoying the vast space available to them (and maybe chasing other fish in your tank).

All right I'll give it a shot. I was hoping one could coexist with a 3" jack dempsey, but that didn't seem to work out, so this is plan b.

Oh i see.

well, depends what you have in there but w/ nice srt's i wouldn't risk putting them in a tank w/ other fish.

in my oppinion, they are ornamental fish (much like flowerhorns) and the best way to keep them is in a tank by themselves.

but in your case, its tuff cuz you have a 240 w/ fish already in there.

i say grow them out in a smaller tank until you like what you see, then once they are full grown, have them alone in the 240 w/ maybe other smaller dithers..

Here's some pictures of the fish. They are in with some small EBJDs, and Geos (weird mix I know). Batteries are dead on my camera so I only got two pics.

These two were $85 ea @ 3". So far they are getting along great. They follow each other around and seem to really like swimming in the current from the FX5s.
