I'm curious if a pair of SA lungfish can be kept together since they have a laid back , calm demeanor ? Africans will tear each other up and the Aussies seem to be okay with each other .

I've done 2 SAL 2x, I've done 4 SAL once. It all worked, but when there were only 2 SAL, they nipped each other for few days. Then they chill with each other. I haven't kept many SAL but I've kept 4. Good luck! Oh when I put 2 together, they were the same size. With 4 SAL, there was 2 different size: 15" and 10".

I wouldn't do it; there's too much of a risk.

Weren't those SALs all kept together for a while at the LFS that you got them from?

No, 2 different batch, and 2 different store.

Ah, okay. I thought that you had two that were bought from the same store and were housed together there.

I do think that size, age, and maturity may come into play with these lungfishes; it's quite possible that issues arise when mature adults are housed together versus everything being just fine with multiple juveniles.

Possibly, I haven't raised them to matured size yet. I don't dare try the WAL with SAL tho. :P

I have limited experience with lungfish but I do have a store and sell sals It doesn't work for me to keep them together. I'm nursing one still from a bite from the other - in the nose. I think it could work in the right aquarium- large enough! with the right lungfish- temperment wise. but I doubt it and you may be asking for big trouble. I had two together once 8 inchers for a night and when I came in the next morning they were in seperate tanks. The second try was the bite.

tried mature WAL and mature SAL. SAL dont back down from fights. WAL does even with the reputation.
