I've seen some bare bottom tanks and the fish almost look washed out. THen again, some of the nicest cichla I've ever seen are kept bare bottom, so go figure.

Can you really "bleach" your cichla with chlorine? Or do you mean it stresses them out to the point of losing pattern / color?... Or am I not reading this right?? If all I have to do is add some chlorine to get a "golden cichla" ..... My whole collection will look like this in a week or so and I'll be rich!!!...lol
