sounds like you may need more filtration if your filter/tank has been up for a few weeks/monthes... any traces of ammonia or nitrites in a "cycled" tank usually hint at inadequete filtration that will cause more hassle and likely deaths in the future. the ammonia could very well explaine your O's fin concerns as ammonia will literaly burn fishs fins/gills/softer tissues. with your water being off.. I would do another water change.. as already stated.. it's not going to hurt anything.

Excellent advice.

As said, do another water change (larger if possible, like 40%) and lower the amount you are feeding. Since, you want no ammonia or nitrites in your readings. watch how much you feed and when you get zero readings, only then increase a bit more at feeding times.

If you are getting nitrites at all, just be patient. Bacteria that handle nitrites take a little longer to fully grow, but both ammonia and nitrites in the tank can cause major health problems.
