Two TopFin 60 Filters in a 75 Gallon Tank?

lol that is a good thing. you know their catching stuff. I wash the cartridges out once a week.
 
I'm so angry.... I take back what I said about these filters lol. I had a TopFin 20 and 60 in my 75 gallon tank. One day when I went to turn the light on in the tank, I noticed that the 20 wasn't working. It was on but it wasn't working at all. I tried messing with it but it just wouldn't go anymore. That made me so mad! Well I just thought that maybe it had to much to do and just quit so I went and got my other spare TopFin 60 (the brand new one I might add) and set it up. A little bit later I noticed the old 60 not working. I got it to start going again but it keeps quitting, and it quits everyday now.. Today I went and noticed that the newer 60 was also not running. I can't believe this!!!!! I don't know what to do.. I'm thinking about just getting an Emperor 400 because I've heard they're good ones... any thoughts on whats going on with my filters?
 
i've used the emperors, and penguins filters (i've never tried the topfin though), and am not very impressed with them. i think i'm stuck on aqua clears. i've become a big fan of these. i currently have two ac110s, two ac70s, and an ac20. the ac20 sat in my brothers basement for several years, then he gave it to me where it sat in my basement for several more years before i finally fired it up, and it still runs like brand new.
 
I have 2 of those runnin on my 75 gal. So far its been pretty good... until my Red Bellies kick up sand and it gets sucked in the filter. I have to wash it out in the sink then because it runs like a lawn mower. Other than that...they hold up pretty strong. I have a stock of 5, 5"-7" Red belly piranhas, a 6" pleco and 3 silver dollars.
 
Hmm... well I don't know what's going on. I went down this morning and they were both running, I went back down this afternoon and they were still running... I'm so confused!!! But thanks spaulding on the input about the Emperor filters.. I'll think about looking at the Aqua Clears. And G-Code, you are lucky lol..
 
I don't mind them too much. I have 2 on my 75 in addition to a fluval 304. For the price you pay, you can get two of them instead of one emperor 400, but you can also get a penguin 350 for only a bit more than the top fin.
 
any chance you had some intermittent power issues? I've had old filters quit on me (usually Penguin-type filters), but the fact that your new filter also had trouble makes wonder if there was a different problem
 
No, nothing like that... I can't think of anything that would've caused all of the filters to act strange. They've been running fine for two days now... crazy! Maybe ghosts are messing with my fish.. lol
