Two year old mauled to death by five pitbull mixes

I got mixed opinions on pitbulls.....but they weren't bred as a "pet" dog. I've had pitbulls charged at me few times and I knew someone who had a pit bull that ripped her upper lip off despite of she got him as a puppy and had him for 4 years with no issues. I don't think I ever got bitten by any labs. The pitbulls are powerful breed for the specific reason and it's hard to breed out these unwanted traits that they were bred for.

You never what happens behind close doors. To say how people care for their dogs. I'm not saying your friend was a bad owner cause obviously I don't know her but I've seen that happen before too.

These dogs were obviously not socialized.. lived as a pack.. acted as a pack........ doesn't matter what breed when you grow dogs up this way.

It's true that Pits weren't bred as pets but most dogs weren't either. Originally dogs where working animals, guard dogs, hunters, bull baiting(not exactly a job but you know what I mean) and herding dogs the list of jobs goes on. Only true companions that I know of(meaning they where bred originally for the sole purpose of being a pet) are some of the toys and other small dogs(not all mind you). Dachshunds for instance where originally bred to pull Badgers(a notoriously vicious animal) from their burrows. Their are other small dogs who you'd be surprised how much latent aggression they have inside them that we bred into them to serve our own purposes which can easily surface when the dog isn't treated properly with the respect they deserve.

exactly, but its always easier to blame the dogs and the media has a blast making bull breeds into serial killers

University study shows Dachshund is the most aggressive dog breed, chihuahua second, and jack russel terrier third.

just needs to be laws restricting number of pet dogs allowed, or be enforced more, but again, most ppl don't like to "snitch"

That pitbull was very well trained, I've played with him and never show any aggression toward to other people or animals. He just snapped out one day and attacked his owner for no reason. The girl was beautiful lady I ever seen before that incident. Like I said...mixed opinions on pitbulls, but I won't defend them for what they do naturally. Unfortunately, their traits are what it makes the pitbull more dangerous and powerful dogs if put in wrong hands or people with no clue.
