Here in florida there are many species that are invasive, Cichlids= Mayan, Jewel, Jags, Midas, Firemouths, JD's I can go in, Pbass, even largemouth bass arent true natives to this state, yet they dont get the bad rep.....eventhough they compete more with the native species for nesting food etc...
i figured you would mention exactly that. Cichlids being introduced and the fighting they do with native florida species. But SH's are dfferent than any other recently introduced species. They are extremely predatory in nature and some such as Giants, grow exactly to the name- giant- 4'-5'+.
I wasn't looking to throw this thread into a debate on SH's, but i don't mind that it has. The effects of these fishes being introduced By my prediction will be seen and come much more to light at a time in the future. In the ecosystems i fish, they have not overtaken natives.
But my fears stem from (Channa micropeltes) more than any other species. if they grow to populate area's where they can thirve in the U.S, than we would see problems.

Keep the SH debate going without resorting to insults if your opinion is deemed lesser informed than others.
I currently know of NO experts on this subject that reside on MFK, so any further debate may be just opinions on if SH's are currently effecting natural life in the U.S.
