UARU buddys?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldn't personally recommend it, the geos would prefer a larger group, and even 5 of the 10"-12" fish in a 120 with all those other smaller fish, sounds like a lot to me.
are you absolutely sure it is too cruel??

I mean, I definitely think it would be crowded for my personal taste. And I do think the fish would be better off less densely stocked than that. But everyone has different ideas on stocking. I made that recommendation off my experiences with similar sized tanks. A 5' tank for 5 foot-long fish is not that much room IMO. I would stick with less of the big guys, especially since you want a bunch of small fish as well.

Just a little heads up, if that tank stays up for the raphael to get full grown then he WILL eat those vampire shrimp with ease. When I'm talking about full grown I'm not talking about 6 inches, no, I'm talking about 10 inches. In order for him to grow that large the tank will have to be set up for many years though.

HI just wanted to thank you for pushing me to go find the super rare in Toronto Perfect red head tapojos, if you didn't remind I would have never checked Kijij, a guy is selling 5 2" for 35, I always loved theses fish, but to no avail. THANKS!!!!

Jurupari and surinamensis (and the similar species) all get 10"+, I think you will find your tank is very overstocked with all these large cichlids in addition to those other fish. The ones I recommended, the redhead Tapajos, only get to 5-6". However, with all those other fish in the tank I did not take into account, I think it would be too many fish. I would pick your favorite of either the Uaru or the geophagus, and do one or the other. Either pair of Uaru, or group of smaller geophagus species.
This is my stocking ideas, please I would like to get your opinion:

Btw SILVER DOLLAR=RED TAIL HEMIODUS
PICTUS I MITE LET GO OR THE RAPHAEL, I WANT SOME COLOURFUL CATFISHS
I REALLY WANT THAT PLECO, SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS, 2 UARU OKAY?

Why the 2 lone julli cories? I'd knock them off unless you want a whole school.
I'd knock off the bandit cories as well and get more of those orange lazer cories or whatever they're called online. But that's what I'd do.

The laser was a mistake i got him for 6$, less then half the price, and i really like diversity

Still going to be very packed when fish are at maturity, I recommended on the last page doing either the 2 uaru, or the group of geophagus. Though you could start out with this an thin it out as the fish grow if you wanted. I think without all the other fish you might be able to do the geos and uaru, but added to all those other fish, it is a lot. Just my opinion.
