Uaru Cichlids????

I'm looking for anyone who has experience keeping this Cichlid. Any information would be appreciated. If you have pics that would be cool also. There's a 6-7" one at a great LFS that I like. Thanks.

here is mine it is 8 inches,it is kinda aggressive but not to the point of some cichlids hit does bully some of the other fish when they get in his space but it has a great personality ,not hard to take care of i dont do any thing special just water changes and variety in its diet(krill,peas.hikari gold pellets.romaine lettuce and freeze dried earthworms,the lettuce is its favorite)

btw its eyes are that color all the time looks kinda spoky sometimes when it is staring at you(lol)

That is one great looking fish. The one at the LFS looks very much like it. Thanks for the good information as well.

When they have babies the fry eat the slime off of the body of the parents. Just like Discus.

Thats a beautiful fish. I used to keep Urau a few years back and might try them again after seeing yours.

This is one of mine, i keep a pair of them with my red severum and GT. They stand their ground against the GT and they eat ANYTHING!!!!!

they are pigs...
my 7" one eats anything and everything..

when they are babies, they are prone to ich.. all the small ones under .5" that my lfs had, died of ich...

they are very sensitive to transportation when little

I also was lucky enough to find a 1" one in good condition and hes been in the 125 with this guy for 4 months now.

My two from Ryan. They are the most aggressive eaters in the tank and grow fast. Not picky about food at all, but they seem to be particularly fond of veggie.
