Uaru fernandezyepezi - round 2

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Once they are adapted they are fine. It's the initial acclimation that seems to be a problem. Also, F1 fish have been available in Europe for several years. Maybe your friend has F1?

4 week update:

8 pulled through. 6 are nice and fat, and almost doubled in size since they came in. The other 2 are getting there. The ones I lost were all razor thin with big bellies. I'm guessing that the internal parasite got so bad that they couldn't pass the dead worms out after meds (metro -> prazi -> levamisole). I'll continue to hit them with meds periodically just in case.

Romaine lettuce in the morning and meaty foods in the evening. 86F, ~pH6, 90% wc every 3 days. Filtration was reduced to 2x AC70 and 1x Eheim 2217, plus a 13w internal UV. I think the strong current from the FX5 and AC110 was bothering them.

Can't say I'm very happy but it's not the end of the world either. I think they are now in stage 2 - grow!

They look good Pete! The other 2 still a bit thin? You think it will take some time before they put on more weight? Because I am having the same problem with that retro that was super thin with a pinched in forehead, he looks a lot better then when he came in, but isn't "bulky" yet, and I hit him with the same meds, but for now I'm just power feeding him hoping that over time he will put the weight back on.

Yes they have fattened up. I can still tell the two from the rest because they are a little smaller, but they look as healthy and active. They play in groups :)

.........

They're looking much perkier.

Does protocol for treating IPs vary, between different vendors who sell wc fish?
I've been wondering about that. Do they treat the tougher species, but not the fragile ones? none at all- or does that depend on which vendors/importers.
