hey whats a good fair price for these fish?? also what is a good price for the Orange variety?

Thanks

it depends on the size... for a normal one at 2" $15-$20

if you can get orange i would pay what ever it took.

interesting.....I guess i got a real deal

Orange variety? Are you talking about eye colour or something else?

I'm going to put my pair back together after we move and hopefully get them breeding. If they're successful I'll grow out a group of around 10-12 for the big SA tank I'm planning, will be interesting to see how they go being kept in such a large group...

no they are a diffrent color varity (or something like that)

Rapps has some look at his pics. http://www.tangledupincichlids.com/

you can see the orange color to then and their black "triangle" does not go all the way to the tail.

I have a lone female and she's awesome and runs the tank without ever having shown any actual aggression.

The guy I got her from had her with a male and they got along very well, but he sold the male before I got there (and he apparently got nearly killed by another fish) I can imagine that a small group could have problems, but they'd do good as a single or couple, or in a large group. If you're short on space though keep it to one unless you find an already established pair.

Interesting. I'd like to know what grounds Rapps is basing his name of "Uaru Sp." on, does he actually think they are a separate third species, or just a regional variant on U. amphiacanthoides. To me, if the only difference from Uaru a. is the colour then it would hardly be enough to justify a new species.

Has anyone here got some??? I'd love to be able to order fish from someone like that, it really grates hearing americans saying "I can't find XXX in my area" when people like Rapps have top quality fish and will ship nation-wide...

The current trend is splitting in the last few years, so when a new color form is found ... instead of automatically assigning it to an established species like they used to, they do the whole affin/cf/sp until the full description is worked up.

Like Heros sp. 'Atabapo' instead of listing it as Heros notatus 'Atabapo' ... or Heros sp. 'Rotkeil' versus Heros efasciatus.

Interesting, thanks!

hmmmm...thanks for that info!!!! i did not realize that the red shoulder and Heros efasciatus are very similar !!!!!
