In the meantime, your male notatus has spawned with a second female. These eggs have stuck around for two days but I don't think they're any good. They don't look fertile. Maybe the notatus eggs look different than the H. efasciatus eggs? Or maybe my water's too hard for them to be fertile.
At any rate, I'm glad we could exchange breeding stock.![]()

What's your water like? It shouldn't be too bad since your other sevs bred, but like JD mentioned these wilds could be more picky. And did the male seem to have done his thing during spawning?jgentry;3859076; said:Congrats Peter!!! That is very cool
Mine turn white on day three everytime if I have not mixed 50% RO and a lot of blackwater extract. The joys of hard water. I have never seen severum breed as much as notatus though. They are like rabbits. Spawn ever week just about.

ryansmith83;3859139; said:Hmmm, I have other South Americans spawning successfully in my water, including tank-bred sevs, wild Mesonauta, and wild Laetacara. Maybe the notatus are a bit more picky? Or maybe the male isn't sealing the deal. He's too worried about flirting with all of them to settle down and pay attention for five minutes.
Peter, are the uaru guarding and tending the eggs? I'm anxious to see if they're actually good or not. If so, that means Uaru spawn young. They were only about thumbnail size back in April 2009, so they're probably not even a year old yet.
