They look great Peter, very colorful. The blue in the pectoral finnage looks amazing. They seem to have a taller body shape than regular amph's too.

Other than coloration differences, I do not believe there is any difference. Unless it is something like reproductory practices that has not been exhibted yet, I really think they are basically the same as Uaru a.

Beautiful fish and pictures.

Once fully mature, you can expect them to look like this mate.

Wow those are unbelievable!! Any idea how old they are?

i have a regular one about 10 inches(didnt think they get that big)great fish to watch, not shy and rules my 180 gallon

Wow they are stunning. Congrats on the nice pick up.

Peter, they look amazing! They have grown much more than mine. Mine slowed down in growth the minute they went into my community tank. They weren't very happy with their new tankmates for the first month or so.

I only kept two for myself when I shipped you the fish, and like yours, mine are never apart. They always stick together.

From what I was told by the breeder, the orange variant stays a bit smaller than the normal U. amphiacanthoides. He said he only got his wild adults to about 8" or so. Other than their orange belly, there's really not that much difference.

I will say that when they were babies, their patterns were way different than the amphicanthoides I'd had before. They were much lighter in color.

Thanks Ryan - I told them I've got a lot of pressure so they'd better grow fast! :)

Do you think they'll get along with regular amphicanthoides? A local member is selling a couple 8" inchers and I'm tempted.

awesome fish man! we rarley get Uarus for sale here.. :(

Peter, I don't see why they wouldn't get along with regular Uaru. The breeder (Dale Jordan) kept his orange adults with pandas. I'm not sure how you feel about keeping lines pure. I'll just say that all of the fry sent to me ended up with the bright orange chest, so it seems pretty obvious that they're a different morph than the regular amphs. I guess it's sort of the way rotkeil severums are obviously a different morph than regular green severums. Just something to keep in mind if the oranges pair with the regular amphs...

Thanks Ryan. I wasn't thinking about breeding them - just thought that they might be more comfortable in a bigger group. Maybe I should hold out for some pandas :D
