I'm not really sure how much filtration you will need. Suggest you start with one FX6 and slowly build up your fish population. Keep up with your water changes and regularly monitor your water quality. If you are having trouble keeping water quality right, then look at what you need to do (reduce biomass, increase filtration, increase water changes etc). I have 2 x40w UV sterilisers that are plumbed into the return from one of the FX6s. I got them after a disease outbreak wiped out a lot of my fish in a previous setup a couple of years ago. I don't find them a hassle. I just run them and replace the tubes once per year.

Don UV lights kill beneficial bacteria too?

UV lights kill bacteria and other organisms that pass through the housing. Your beneficial bacteria is colonised within your filter media, on your substrate, etc, so it doesn't pass through the UV housing. Therefore it won't be killed.
