I've been watching these Uaru's and chocolates every tie I go to a certain store. They are really growing on me and would like to add them. I am going to hve to rehome my 14" CK and 3x Filament Barbs (3"). With them out I have 3 Blood Parrots and 3 Geo's. Would like to find a pair of Oranges. Are they as delicate as discus? I think...anything in particular I need to know..feeding, Ph, temp, etc. BTW, my LFS hs a 8" 9" chocolate for $39. is that good?

Uarus can get big mine are rescues and I'm pretty sure they are stunted at 6". They eat need veggies in there diet. They like to nip at wood. Can be really bossy but not aggressive. They are the smartest fish I have ever had. They take longer then other fish to adjust to new tanks. They really love to have other uarus around as friends it's so cute to see them swim together. They can be shy at first too.

I was not a fan of at first I got them free off this lady that let them get bad hith its been a ew months they are 100% better and now that they have adjust and are not shy any more I love them. They need clean water and can get hith.

If your tank is only 75 gallons it's going to be too small. Uaru are a large cichlid. Blood parrots can get pretty big too, and Geos as well depending on the species. So I'd say avoid chocolates and Uaru unless you plan an upgrade.

I sure wish I could find Uaru at my LFS'! They are nowhere to be seen here. I refuse to buy online due to insanely high shipping charges! Hope it works out for you, though. I love Uaru's.

If you want to drive out to Lake Tahoe I will give you mine.

My Uaru did not thrive in my hard, alkaline (pH 8) water. They also seem not to in any of my LFS. I'd avoid them if your water is similar.

Also, as stated 75G is not really big enough for uaru long term. As well as getting big, they are quite an active fish.
