Damn, sounds like a lot of work. At least you take the time and clean it, it really is worth it. The tank looks amazing, good job.

yes. I clean all the filters. I have to take out every rock one by one them vac the sand very well. Then i have to rebuild the cave and put the other rocks back in there and then I have to clean all the algae off the glass. Then I have to take out

IMHO, that would kill most of the BB and everytime you do that the whole system has to cycle again? Maybe alternate between filters and water change?

The ehiem has 25 pounds of bio lava rock that does not get touched during cleaning.

Any suggestions on the tank or more stock ppl? I'm still adding.

Just an opinion: I would throttle back a little on the cleaning. Less is better when talking about stress for the fish. On a positive note: you’re under stocked. I love the look of an under stocked tank.
As far as stocking you can go for a black Arowana, slow growers and don't get as big as the silvers. It would look nice cruzing the top of that tank.

I bet you might have covered this in another thread somewhere, but I haven't seen it so here goes:
Whats up with your water chemistry? I mean, how are you addressing the different needs of the old and new world Cichlids?
Not criticizing, I think this is pretty frickin' awesome, but...well, clue me in on how to make this work.
Is it all about picking the right fish and then finding a happy medium? Is it setup as an African tank in terms of pH and gH and you just make the SA/CA adapt?
Thanks,

Matt
