I have had a Delhezi for about 5 weeks now. He was originally with an an aggro Palmas Palmas who ripped up his tail pretty badly.

I had no idea what the re-growth rate on their tails was like. I thought I'd post updates on his here so we can see how it grows. Just for fun. :)

I am actually surprised how quickly it's growing back.

Photo from 12/26. (Palmas was rehomed somewhere around here.)

And video.

And these pics are from last night - 1/11, about 2.5 weeks later.

Yeah the tail nips grow back fast, I've seen a lot of my guys get a bit of fin torn up by other polys... I think it's pretty common. Never had to treat the water with anything special or give any extra attention (Other than watching to see if it was that one particular poly being bullied by someone else). Usually it's just sloppy eating resulting in a chunk of fin getting bit

Unfortunately, in my case it was the other poly just being aggressive. She'd bite him purposefully. :(

But yeah, cool how quickly it heals! (If it doesn't keep getting beat up.)

Del is looking good. Glad to see he's feeling better and not being bullied. Wishing him a speedy recovery :] Love the pics and video!

I had a senegal who was a perpetual troublemaker. Second smallest in the tank (next o the albino) but would harass all the larger polys. Ended up rehoming him, it just wasn't worth having him perpetually tormenting all the other stock (who all got along great). I even tried giving him a go with zero tank decorations to try and shake up the territory issue, but to no avail- some fish just like to watch the world burn :P

LOL... Well I was bummed because she was really pretty. Maybe in a larger tank with many more polys it would have been ok...

Yeah sometimes higher poly density does the trick... I've found they're generally happy in poly piles. Mine usually flock together with the exception of the antisocial weeksii who hides in the corner by itself all day. I realize though it has nothing to do with actually being SOCIAL, they just have crap vision, and having a poly next to them feels like they're laying next to a log or some other piece of aquatic debris and ends up making them feel more secure. Here's an interesting way to look at it: More polys for aquarium decorations ;)

Lol at the antisocial weeksii. Does not like the pile. :p

The concept of a poly pile makes me happy! Thats really neat how it makes them feel secure, even though they think it's a log. haha
