Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua - I thought going into their first fight that Shogun had a great shot to beat Machida. His style is a good antidote for the way Machida fights, and Shogun does not mind sitting and being patient, which really helps against Machida. But, that was the first fight. I think if Shogun was going to beat Machida, he should have done it in the first fight. I would expect Shogun to maybe try and bring this to the ground, but it is really hard to keep Machida down, because he is so elusive. Shogun is one of my favorite fighters, and I always thought he would win the belt in the UFC, but I can't help but feeling like he missed his chance. Machida is very, very good, and I don't think he'ff let himself get beat like the first time. I think this could be a pretty convincing win, maybe a 2cd round TKO for Machida.
Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley - This is going to sound really simplistic, and maybe stupid, but here it goes. Both of these guys are obviously not what we would call "character guys". I think they both have huge ego's and I think they are both somewhat of bad @$$'s. Paul Daley seems to really have a lot of confidence in himself, and he is super cocky. The problem is, I really think Kos might be crazy. I don't know what it is, but something is just off with him. He is also massively talented, and I think he is very motivated for this fight. Kos should just walk in, and take Paul down, and not let him get up, which his huge wrestling advantage would afford him, but (this goes back to the crazy part) he'll more likely try to knock Daley out. This is where his ego could get him in trouble, but I doubt it. I hope he does the smart thing and takes him down, but either way, I think Kos wins. If he does, he should get his shot at GSP, and I think that Josh Koscheck might have the best shot at beating GSP out of the current welter's. His mix of power wrestling, and his power, and reach on his feet, might be the perfect mix to stop GSP.
Sam Stout vs. Jeremy Stephens - This shold be a good fight, both guys are entertaining, and always press in the cage. I like Stout because he is a patient and disciplined fighter, but Stephens has real power that is normally not found at that weight.
Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione - I'm going to take Kimbo in this one. I know Mitrione looked good in his last fight, but Marcus, while he has big power, is about as slow as it gets. Kimbo not only has power, but is pretty quick too. I think Mitrione might take this to the ground though, and if he does, all bets are off. We're hearing how Kimbo has improved on the mat, but until I see it, I won't believe it. I think he is really giving MMA a shot though, and thats good to see, he is a great example how you can't just walk in the cage and think you can knock everyone out.
Patrick Cote vs. Alan Belcher - I think this will likely be the Fight of the Night. Both these guys are very good, and are exciting fighters. This will be Cote's first fight back since he got injured vs. Silva, and not only was he riding a huge streak going into that fight, but he was starting to look like he might belong with Silva. Belcher has a ton of talent, and loves to finish fights. He tends to get a little careless at the end of fights, but normally can still get the win. I like Blecher in this one, but it's going to be close.
Yoshiyuki Yoshida vs. Mike Guymon - Judo for the win!
