Couture totally dominated Tony and shut his cheap talk up. I respect him as a boxer but he was running his mouth too much for having absolutely no MMA skills.
I was surprised how slow BJ Penn looked against Frankie Edgar.

bj seems to me like he lost a step. he looks like a different fighter from the stevenson, sanchez and florian fights. part of it is because of frankie but another is that bj seems slower. i don't think it's lack of motivation, i think it's more of what he lost physically. this is the first time ever at that weight that bj took a lot of damage, got outclassed and got shut out standing and on the ground. props to frankie
now i'm not that excited about the lw div anymore. only thing i really want now is penn vs gomi 2. makes sense. penn losing 2 straight and gomi having 1 huge win over a true top and ranked contender. after this fight i now give gomi a better chance. i'd say if bj doesn't take it to the ground, it should be a great stand up war.
anyways, i would've liked to see couture at least strike with toney a little bit. but it pretty much went the way everyone expected. i wish they would've signed a 2 fight deal and have toney fight a C level stand up striker first. but oh well, he asked for it
i wish maia would've finished miranda but i guess that shows miranda's bjj defense is pretty good. they're both black belts but this is mma, and maia is better at utilizing his bjj in an mma fight but miranda has great sub defense.
I thought kenny would win but a part of me also thought gray's wrestling may be the key to his victory which it was. i think gray is a bad matchup for frankie. i think he's the better wrestler but frankies got the speed and cardio so we'll see how that works out. doesn't matter to me who wins. i'm not a fan of either but they are both good guys.
nate diaz looked really good at 170. i think this weight is much better for him. he was able to utilize his reach and bust up davis. the sub was slic, and i was a little mad at the ref for letting the choke go longer than it should've. it was clear he was out and the ref stared for a moment, checked his limp arm, continued to stare, then check his limp arm again, then stopped it. good win for diaz. the ww div is looking more and more stacked
Joe Lauzon was on fire! I thought Gabe would do better, but he didn't have time to get off at all. Joe completely anhialated (ck sp) him. that is what you call an arse woopin. he wasted no time. exchanged on the feet, took him down, gained dominant position, pounded on him with punches and elbows, opened him up and went for the sub when the opportunity arised. best fight i've seen from him so far
