i think Brock got screwed by the reff.... that point deduction was really uncalled for and perhaps shifted the momentum of the fight a bit.... but props to Mir for a very well executed leg lock.....
so true :headbang2
i just didnt want to type all that
any other fight they get like 3 warnings for that, first fight, first five seconds, bam point taken,no warning. :screwy::screwy:
shifted it big time.
mir couldnt get out from under him but the ref stood them up and bam. :irked:
oh well he will be back and better :)

The point deduction by the ref may have been un called for but a warning and if the ref stood them up would have probably done the samething. I figured ref would have given Brock just a warning, it was a very good shot of seeing him punch Mir in the back of the head/neck though. Brock was pounding on Mir, which I think many people were expecting, he is just a very strong guy and dominated Mir. Problem is like I said it's MMA, you can't dominate your opponents all the time everytime if you just focus one aspect of fighting. You will get caught slipping and it cost Brock the fight. I think brock can be a very good fighter just needs more experience and training in other discplines so he can better defend and utilize them besides ground and pound, could you image a guy that strong who could pound on you but if that isn't working just make you tap out? He could be a very dominant heavy weight. Only other thing we didn't see is how he would do in round 2 and 3, would he gas out? His training looked very intense but did any one see Wanderli (SP???) train using a snorkel mask to build up lactic acid and work through it? Now that is pretty intense. Frank looked decent, remained calm when he was blocking the punches with his face. He might have a chance of being a good fighter still if he can continue to improve his game. It was a good fight, short, but good, and thank god no decision to see who one or lost.

Brock just got caught because he doesnt have enough knowledge yet of how to be aware in the ring. I think that he will be very good, but he has to train more on his defense. I was screaming for him to back up and let Mir get up, but he got too excited and while he was trying to land the million dollar shot, he didnt notice Mir attempting to grab his foot. With more training he will be good because he is so powerful. Remember though....someone is coming back to the heavyweights soon.......Arlovsky!!!!!!!:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

It went exactly how I expected... other than the fact I thought Mir would break his arm, not a leg lock. Big and strong means nothing in the UFC if you arent smart and aware. Look at Royce Gracie and Kimo Leopoldo. KL had nearly 100 lbs on Gracie and still got submitted. Although, I would be lying if I said I wasnt interested to see Lesnar down the road. I don't see him putting anyone in jiujitsu moves (no flexibility when you are that big), but if he works on his defense, the ground and pound is all there.

Props to Dana White for bringing him over. What an intelligent business man. Do you know how many WWE fans probably just joined the UFC fan community because of that fight? In the next few months, White needs to start bringing in NFL D-backs, can you imagine Brian Urlacher vs. Keith Jardine? Hmmm... now thats got me thinking.

I wouldn't jump to fast to say that cant be very good with jiujitsu, and that he has no flexability. There is an article on Yahoo sports about the fight and Mir talks about how the one thing that surprised him in the fight was brock's speed, I think with good training he can be more than adequate in jiujitsu. Although I think someone really teach him some judo, then he would be almost impossible to approach.
