ufc 81---brock lesnar!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would like to see Brock fight Jeff "The Snowman" Monson. That would be interesting.

Keep in mind, Brock might be a good wrestler, but this was back in college days. Also if he was that good what was his reasoning to not train and go into the Olympics? Didn’t Randy C. go to the Olympics as a Greco Roman wrestler? I think there is a huge difference with College wrestling and Olympic wrestling, take a look at basketball, you might do pretty good in College but that doesn’t mean you will be the same person in the NBA, maybe over time. Aren’t both Matt Hughes and GSP both wrestlers? I think Matt was a college wrestler and GSP trains with the Canadian Wrestling team and in the last match GSP was man handling Matt, and Matt looks like a pretty big guy compared to GSP. This is MMA so it’s going to be very difficult for a fighter to just rely on one discipline and expect to win all your matches. Brock might already be use to big crowds, with his WWE (or whatever you call it) experience, but taking some punches at the same time will take him out of his element. Take a look at the huge guy Alexander Houston, won his first two matches and his last one he lost, think he got knocked out or something by a guy no-where near his build. But if you look on the other side, Frank Mir doesn’t look like the same fighter he was before his accident. I think the fight might be close. But put Brock up against any other heavy weight, Gonzaga, the Snowman, Randy, Arlosky (SP??), I don’t think he would stand a chance at this point in his career. Would be nice to see Frank submit him and get back into the grove of being fighter.

ideal, you should watch countdown on spike ;) lol
brock said why he didnt go to the O.cant remember tho.lol
also he said he is the strongest he has ever been.
and he looked strong in training.

You are somewhat right, but remember the reason why the wrestling skills will be more effective for Brock Lesnar than other MMA guys is because he is a heavy-weight. The reason why this is important is because 1. the heavy-weight division is weak right now, but more importantly, because he can come in at whatever weight he feels like. Right now the have Lesnar coming in at 265, and Mir coming in at 240. I think that Lesnar will weigh more than that, but if he is 265, he'll be in pretty good shape for his size. Also, Mir doesnt always show up in "fighting shape", and if he walks in at 240, he's gonna be garbage. Back to the wrestling, all Lesnar has to do is impose his will (weight) on Mir, take it to the ground, and I dont see Mir getting out of it. I think that Lesnar will probably ground-and-pound his way to a pretty quick victory, but in this sport you never really know.

Oh yeah, your right that Houston Alexander got knocked out by a guy "no where near his build", but in his other fights, especially with Jardine, he took a couple big punches and ended up winning the fight.

The true reason Lesnar didn't try out for the olympics is because he isn't good enough, plain and simple. Is he a legit wrestler? You're damn right he is. It doesn't get much more real than a home-grown South Dakota boy dominating the mat. I've followed college wrestling for years, and I can tell you that Brock is good yes, but his technique is ~ so-so. He mostly used his muscle and speed (yes, he's very quick for a hwt.) to win his matches. In the olympics, everyone is huge and fast, but they have perfected technique as well. Brock wouldn't be more than average in the olympics, and I think he knew that.

Lesnar as a fighter is still a question mark. Throwing him out against a much smaller "nobody" isn't a great way to base his skill. Obviously he has some great foundation with his wrestling skill, but can he throw punches? Can he learn jiu-jitsu? Can he take a punch? I defintely think he has a future in MMA, but the question is how fast will he learn, and will he stick with it.

You cannot use the WWE as anything more than a showcase of Lesnars strenght. We all know he is strong, look at the guy. (I still remember seeing him F5 Big Show off the ropes, and the platform breaking) I probably weigh about as much as his left thigh. All of the people in WWE are cooperating with Lesnar to pull off those big stunts though. It isn't him against them, it's them working together.

All in all, I'm definitley excited to see how it goes. I'm rooting for Brock. After all, I was a college wrestler myself, and native to MN. My brothers even worked on his house in Delano, MN. They said Sable is hot as hell and makes damn good hamburgers LOL!

All this talk is getting me more and more ready to watch this fight. D@mn it's still two days away. :irked:
