---------------------------------------------

Welterweight contender Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez (20-2) broke a two fight losing streak in style, forcing Octagon newcomer David Bielkheden (12-6) to tap out due to strikes late in the first round of a scheduled three rounder.

Aggressive from the opening bell, Sanchez took Bielkheden to the mat and commenced on a ground and pound strategy that immediately put the Stockholm native on the defensive. Sanchez - who was coming off the first two losses of his career to Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch - never yielded control, and after a failed kimura attempt, he opened up his attack, with Bielkheden submitting at the 4:43 mark.

After a slow start, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski kicked his game into gear in the second round, stopping previously unbeaten Jake O’Brien to score his third straight victory and first stoppage since he knocked out Marcio Cruz at UFC 66 in December of 2006.

O’Brien (10-1), fighting for the first time since undergoing surgery after his win over Heath Herring in January of 2006 - made no bones about his gameplan; he was looking for the takedown early and often. Arlovski (14-5) showed good takedown defense though and he kept O’Brien at bay for much of the round. But with under two minutes left, O’Brien finally got Arlovski to his back and he began to work his ground and pound game. Arlovski scored the biggest shot of the round though, opening up a cut on the top of O’Brien’s head with an elbow just before the bell.

The second was more of the same, with O’Brien looking for the takedown and Arlovski sprawling his way out of trouble and firing back the occasional strike. Midway through the round, O’Brien scored his second takedown, but after a stalemate, the two stood, and it was then that Arlovski pounced, taking his foe down and landing in the full mount. From there, Arlovski just fired away with both hands, and with no answer coming back from O’Brien, referee Mark Matheny halted the bout at 4:17 of the second stanza.

I really wanted to watch it, but wasn't able to go anywhere and didn't wanna spend the money on it. All the fights went the way I hoped (at least the ones I cared about), except the silva-henderson fight, but I new it was going to be great. If I was to bet on it, though, I would've bet on Silva. After all, Henderson is 37 years old. Henderson won the first round and almost made it to the third. Who knows what would've happened if he made it past the second, but now it's obvious that silva is going to be unstoppable for a long time. Can't wait for Coleman vs. Lesnar and Liddell vs. Rua if it happens....go Shogun

Poor coleman.... the guys heart is bigger than his noggin..... but then again he was one of the pioneers of leglocks in mma...;)

I thought fitch did a great job in recovering and modifying his gameplan against a unorthodox striker...... by the 3rd round he stopped caring and stood to exchange....... i still believe he is the only challenge for gsp atm...... but hes gonna need to step it up a couple notches......

Poor hendo.... yea i cannot see anyone to challenge Silva within the UFC right now......
