ufc 87-brock is back! + other ufc news

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Brock shouldn't have acted that way at the end. He don't need to hug and kiss his opponent but it shows his immaturity. He'll grow out of that. He's gonna learn that you can't always act that way. If he doesn't grow out of it, he needs to go back to fake fighting,.........

A couple things surprised me from saturday.

1. I was totally impressed with how Jon Fitch performed. Now thats saying a lot for a guy who didn't even win a round, but GSP is one of the best in the world. I did not think that Fitch would be able to hang at all and he proved me wrong.

2. Brock did ok, landed a huge punch, but his ground game is still really suspect. It looks as if his stamina is pretty good, he needs to start working more on his JJ if he wants to be good.

3. I cant figure out if Florian is better than I thought, or if Huerta just fought a bad fight. I really thought Huerta would have a stronger fight. Normally I don't care for Florian, but he fought well.

4. Kongo is an absolute enigma.

My thing with Kongo is, I can't figure why he isn't holding the belt right now. He has all of the physical tools to be successful, but he lacks in either his mental make up, or his efforts in training his mma game along with his body. I can't figure him out, he is really frustrating because in a weight class that is begging for real contenders, he just can't seem to put it together.

Lesnar makes a believer out of Dana White
By Steve Cofield

UFC president Dana White was at a loss for words in the UFC 87 post-fight press conference when asked about Brock Lesnar. Lesnar handled veteran Heath Herring easily winning 30-26 on all three scorecards.
White said on Thursday that he didn't agree with Lesnar's notion that he should fight the best right off the bat in UFC. Three days later White is a Lesnar convert.

"I'm telling you I'm blown away by his performance tonight," said White. "One of our guys said it looks like he's hitting him with lunch boxes. The guy is a phenomenon. I'll be honest, I didn't think he could come in here with no fights and compete at this level, he proved me wrong."
It sounds like most of the fighters are also on board with Lesnar's potential:

"After that first fight against Mir, I had all the guys come up to me... Hughes, Liddell, Rampage and said this guy is going to be scary in a couple of years. He's a monster. I don't know what guys are going to want to fight him."
The word swirling around the media room was that UFC may try to make a Cheick Kongo-Lesnar fight next.
kongo next? :WHOA:
2 monsters in the ring? :WHOA:
they are going to need 2 big johns to ref that one

Actually there is some validity to that, I'm hearing that it will be Kongo and Lesnar, and also that St. Pierre and Penn is on, and should be on the card for the December UFC, the end of the year PPV.

Florian is much better than people will give him credit. He will shread your face with his elbows. And Huerta is a quality fighter, but I don't think he is as good as his record, he was getting is but kicked by Clay Quido when he caught Quido with a luckly shot in the 3rd.
Kongo is someone I really like I just think his ground game is lacking or self confidence in it is.

As for a Lesner I wish he would go back to the WWE. I personally prefer to see the guys with technical skills rather than someone who just tries to use raw brute strength
to overwhelm his opponent.
