Andrei is more than a stand-up fighter, he can go to the ground.
I get since Andrei has laft the UFC that people will bag on him, but Arlovski is a very good fighter, and if he was in the UFC you might see someone other than Brock with the belt. The heavyweight class is weak, and there are only a few guys who are actually worthwhile Arlovski is one of those guys.

As for the Brock and Fedor thing (Randy too), Fedor is not scared to fight anyone, the issue is he (and hie managment) know that he is the best fighter in the world, and that means that they hold the cards. So, they are not just doing whatever Dana wants them to do. They are holding out because they can. Dana is waiting for Affliction to fold, then he will come in and swoop up Fedor. Now we can argue if that will happen, but thats waht Dana is doing.
AMEN! Just because Fedor doesn't want to give in to all-mighty Dana and the UFC doesn't make him scared.

its hard to compare fighters at different points in their life. for example crocop and wandy is a shell of what they use to be. all fighters peak at different points. thats why i think the BJ gsp fight is going to be epic. anywho i think fedor has already peaked in his pride days, but he is still the best hw out there.

with that said, as far as fedor not coming to the UFC, it was more about the way the UFC runs things. fedor is NOT scared. the UFC basically want to own you in every aspect if you fight for them. plus they have different contracts with each fighter. i remember reading that they have some clauses extend past the fight terms. meaning if you sign up for 4 fight, the clause may state they own your marketing image rights for 3 yrs. so if you finish your 4 fights, you can go somewhere else, but they won't be able to promote you till the 3 yrs runs out. that also goes for appearances, endorsements, and merchandise

Rich Franklin Vs. Dan Henderson
Mark Coleman Vs. Mauricio Rua
Alan Belcher Vs. Denis Kang
Jeremy Horn Vs. Rousimar Palhares
Marcus Davis Vs. Chris Lytle

I never said anything bad about Andrei except he doesnt have and ground game, which is true. He is not gonna submit many people. Fedor is a hit you, grab you, submit you. Thats what gonna happen in this fight. I personally really like Andrei, i didnt agree with him to leave the ufc but its a business. I dont see Andrei as a contender anymore because he just doesnt have it anymore but Fedor is gonna get praised for beating a "top contender" once again.

As for you second paragraph, its plain and simple. If you want to be the best you have to fight the best. It is the duty of the person who is the so called best to prove his has what it takes. He doesnt want to prove it. He will sit back and say he wants to fight Randy but he wont. Randy left his title in the ufc to come and try to fight fedor but it didnt happen because of his contract. Fedor doesnt have the type of contract and could fight for other companys. If Randy did what he did, why cant fedor, if he "wants" to prove he is the best. My other conclusion about Fedor is that he is waiting for Randy to get in the retirement home then fight him..

I read what you wrote about Andrei, and I just think that you are wrong. Andrei does have a ground game, it's that simple. He may not need to go to it a lot because he is normally faster and stronger than his opponents while in standup, but to say he doesn't have a ground game in not correct.

As for Fedor. What your missing is, everyone all ready says that he is the best in the world. He doesn't have a "duty" at all. Now that people for the most part unanimously agree he is the best, he can wait for people to come to him. And the contract thing is not as simple as it sounds. If it were Randy would have fought Fedor, but he wasn't able to. So, when a capable fighter came up in the UFC (Lesnar), Randy now had reason to go back and fulfill the contract that he was legally attached to.
As for Fedor fighting Randy now. I guess it could still happen, but now even if Fedor wins, it won't say much because Randy got beat by Brock. The fight is just not as appealing anymore.

This UFC was pretty good, but nothing real awesome.

Shogun vs Coleman - I was not real happy with Shogun's performance, it just looks like another case of one of the "Pride" guys not being conditioned well enough. Having said that, while Coleman is old, he still may be one of the strongest 205ers out there. So, in the first round Shogun was throwing out a lot of submission attempts that I think Coleman got out of because of his strength, that maybe some others would not be able to evade. Anyway, I heard that Dana announced that the headline for UFC 97 is Shogun vs. Chuck.

Palhares vs. Horn - I knew Palhares would overpower Horn, but he does need to learn how to finish fights. He can't let guys that he is clearly better than hang around because he will get caught. But overall I really think Palhares can be a good fighter.

Hendo vs Franklin - This was a fun fight. I thought Franklin showed that he can be a 205er, but a first fight with Hendo isn't exactly an easy warm-up. I really think that Hendo can still fight at an elite level, and I hope he gets a nice fight out of this win.

To add to the Fedor flaming. It is true that UFC contracts are too restrictive and that they do want to own you in every single way and Fedor does not want any part of that.

Most of you probably know that Fedor is pretty close with former president Putin. I've read somewhere that he has promised Putin that he will continue to compete in sambo so as to inspire the Russian youth. Unfortunately, UFC contracts doesn't allow that. What he did was pretty honorable if you ask me. Like what was mentioned above, he is already regarded my most MMA fighters as the best and he can afford to let the competition chase him around. He's like Manny Pacquiao at the moment. Both are on the top their game and can pretty much chose who to fight and in their own terms.

I agree with some of your post, but I don't understand the Sambo point. He can still compete in Sambo, while fighting in mma, in fact he is right now (and he lost). So, maybe I'm just missing what your point was here. I somewhat agree that it's cool what he's doing for the youth, but that shouldn't inhibit his mma career.

^ no i think he means thats if he signs with the UFC, the UFC contract would stricty prohibit him from any contact sport outside of a UFC event.
