I think it was still 260, but he showed some signs of definition, at least it looked like he had hit the weights a little bit.
:headbang2 The guy clearly has potential. It is a fear for everyone im sure though he simply does not take things very seriously but hopefully he can change that.

I'm with Roy Nelson on this one. he weighed in at 163 to be exact. Looks don't mean squat in mma. I'm not going to get into it again with Hamato on who's gonna win that fight and why but I think Struve's best chance is to get a sub.

If they fight stays standing, I think Roy takes it. Unless Struve has trained really well on keeping the distance. but like he showed in the buentello fight, he got tired and utilizing the reach and height went out the door.

should be interesting

and i'm so amped about gomi!!! I think he's the underdog, but here's to hoping he comes in shape. looking for a gomi one two ko :headbang2:headbang2

Kenny Florian vs. Takanori Gomi - Florian really dominated this fight. There were a couple times where Gomi geared back and went for a KO punch, but Florian was way too quick to wait around for that. Florian worked his jab really well, and as soon as it got to the ground, he ended it. I kind of feel bad for Florian, he's kind of like the Jon Fitch of the 155er's. He looks to be the best right now of the whole group, except for that one guy at the top, who he'll probably never be able to beat.

Roy Nelson vs. Stefan Struve - I was dead wrong on this one. *Congrats svang!* It doesn't surprise me that much that Roy won, but that he was just so much better. I still think Struve can be a good fighter, but I've never seen a guy so tall, fight so short. No one has gotten less out of a major reach advantage than Struve. As for Roy, I still think he would be better served being in a lower weight, and I don't think he can match up with the top level guys, but if he keeps bringing this power, he will knock a few guys out for sure.

Nate Quarry vs. Jorge Rivera - Is it just me, or did something look wrong with Nate Quarry? Not just the fact that he got demolished, but even before then, a guy who normally throws nice, clean, quick, combinations, looked very slow. It almost looked like he was sick or something. Also, I think the ref should have stopped it at the end of the first, and Nate should not have come back out for the second.

Ross Pearson vs. Dennis Siver - Another nice win for Ross. Siver is a dangerous guy to fight, and Ross just stayed patient, and picked him apart. Siver threw a ton of lazy left jabs that Pearson either, threw a counter left, or countered with an overhand right, almost every time. I don't know what to think of Ross's ground game because we havent seen a ton of it, but he really looks like a promising fighter.
Side note, Joe Rogan really made me mad in this fight when in the third he said that Dennis Siver "just looks tight". Joe, if a guy who throws numerous standing head kicks, and spinning back kicks is fighting "tight", I hate to see what loose is. Sometimes one guy is just better than the other, it's not always about one guy not showing up.

Caol Uno vs. Gleison Tibau - Felt bad for Uno in this one. Tibau is just huge at 155, and Uno couldn't do much with him. I really like Tibau, and I hope he gets a big fight out of this one.

I agree with everything you said there, h_y. I felt the same way. Gomi got straight up embarassed. I know Florian is a great fighter (even though I can't stand the guy, lol), but I don't see Gomi having a place in the UFC that long after that. There's no way he's going to get a belt, so I think he'd be better off going somewhere else. Florian's brother or whomever that was, can't remember, was so f***ing annoying and LOUD! I know you gotta be loud for fighters to hear their corners, but his voice was so loud and annoying. I think I would like to see Roy vs. Gonzaga next to see where he's really at. Gonzaga is decent on his feet and very good on the ground...would be a good test to see where Roy's at because I think by know we know where Gonzaga stands...pretty good stand-up with good ground skills. A tier below the likes of dos Santos and those guys, but a tier above Kongo and CroCop. Am I wrong? I could also see him fighting CroCop or Kongo, maybe.

for sure! I've never seen such an aggressive and explosive cast.

I'm real bummed out about Gomi but not surprized. What did surprize me was Kenny's jab. That's what won the fight for him. Gomi's better days are behind him and I don't know what's going to happen to him. He said this was his last run for a major title so this may be it for him. He just isn't as fast, cardio isn't as good as it was in the Bushido days. He should finish out his contract, run his gym and just be a family man. He has a baby on the way if not already born. Always a fan of his and always will be. I have his dvd's to always look back to.

And what about ROY NELSON huh? It went exactly how I thought, Struve is a good fighter, but he just doesn't have the spring in his legs to get in and out to take advantage of his height/reach. It was so friggin crazy how short Nelson looked stalking Struve around like that. I didn't expect the fight to end so quickly but I was looking for a big punch from Roy none the less. If I was Struve, I would've went for a takedown early or pull guard and fight off my back for a sub with those lengthy arms and legs.

I had to facepalm at Struve almost immediately. When I saw the match up I thought "could work as long as he keeps his distance" but of course he let himself get backed against the fence right away and all his reach was useless. But hey he's only 22 and as long as he sticks around he'll probably dominate one of these days.
I cant stand Nelson. I think hes going to get owned sooner or later. I dont care how much muscle is under the fat hes still carrying extra wait and as soon as he fights somebody who can either take a hit or get out of the way hes going to gass. It irritates me when there are guys who just dont take this seriously enough. You're getting paid enough that you dont have to work, you can focus on training, so why not be the absolute best you can? BJ learned his lesson eventually and look at him now. Imagine how much more dangerous a fit Roy Nelson would be.

I was thinking about that today, and my guess is Roy will either get Kongo or the winner of Pat Barry/Cro Cop.
