:irked: I thought I got off pretty easily! We had normal poops for a long time. However, now that Zelda is bigger, we have what seems to be a cut and dry case of IP's. Off to find treatment medicine locally.

I feel your pain... Went through the same thing with my puffer...

Damn IP's are hard to kill now a days...

I'm not even certain where to look locally for medicine. There are a few decent fish stores here, but they are at least 45 minutes from me in either direction. I should start by calling. My daughter had soccer practice tonight, so I didn't get anywhere before it all closed.

You got pictures of this IP poop to share?

if ordering meds isnt a problem, you could order online through amazon, sign up for the PRIME membership go to your profile and change the "upgrade" setting to "do not automatically upgrade" and then anything with the prime logo you get free 2day shipping or upgrade to next day for but a few dollars.

I tried to take pics, but she thought I was going to feed her fat butt and kept chasing my hand around. I couldn't get a good pic with my phone. Basically, it was a long maybe 2" (she is less than 4" still) white string with little balls ever few mm's. Slimy, yukky, IP looking poop. That should paint a pretty decent pic until I can take one! :D

So like empty sausage links...

I researched a lot about internal bacteria explosions in the form of bloat with Tropheus cichlids to a great deal and wanted to see maybe it was somewhat similar. The symptoms, feces and treating are almost similar in the two. Wanted to see how similar the poop was.

Thanks for painting a very vivid picture. LoL

Wish you the best of luck with treating

Jungle fizzy tabs are a really good ip medicine that is safe for puffers and they are sold at any walmart that sells fish. Just treat for a week by soaking food in tank water with a small portion of the fizzy tab.

I've only used the Prazi and Metro to treat bloat/bacterial implosion in Tropheus cichlids always worked great for me.

Would like to find out more about this IP thing in puffers though, could be a strain of bacteria that is dormant in Tanganyikan fish?
