Florida gars are not aggressive. I highly doubt it would bite the aro.
yes floridas are aggressive and its not unreasonable to think it may bite the aro.

i know you and experienced fish keeper..any reasons behind that suggestion..i personally have aros and gars in the same setup for over 2 years now without any problems what so ever..
just because its worked for you doesnt change that fact that our general rule is no aro's with gar. people have kept piranha with neons. does that mean its an adviasable combo? uh no. it may work under the right conditions but im suggesting a rule. thats it. sure u can break it but dont be supprised if u end up with a dead gar. florida gar is really the only chance you have at it working. you never know with gar in reality.

u dint get my point...you are giving me an answer which i dont need...all i asked you is why they shouldnt be kept together..and i am not the only one with gars and aros...u will find hundreds of members on mfk having gars and aros. i dont want to start an argument or fight.

I believe one answer to your question may be due to the fact of the ganoid scales a gar has. Take that plus the impact of a bite from a gar and an aro of similar size has a hard time competing with an aggressive gar. Saying floridas aren't aggressive is just a generalization. Regardless, putting a sick gar in with an aro, a black at that, is not a wise decision.

No. They're not aggressive. As long as a fish is to large for them to eat they will be fine. TONS of people have gars with aros and i have never heard of anyone having a problem.

I agree, that's why I suggested he quarantine and medicate it.

this is not true. there are people on here that have had. gar like shiney silvery fish. due to feeding responce, and silvery issues as well as other things(im sick, cant think atm) gar are aggressive.

again, just because it works for some doesnt mean its an advisable combo. believe me or not, but when ur gar dies dont come crying to me.

ps, isnt black notorisouly aggressive? hmm, yeah i dont want that with my gar.

I don't believe the blacks are more aggressive than silvers. I know jars are notorious for being aggressive.
