Try sandwiching frozen krill in between two 1/4-1/2" slices of zuchini, thats almost gauranteed to work in my opinion. I also use freeze-dried earthworms (from kensfish.com) and brine shrimp.

If you look close, the L-14 is really after the filling, not so much the zuchini ;) (the chunks missing from it are from the silver dollars)

i know how to pack frozen bine shrimp and pellet.. but how do u sandwich the frozen blood worms... that would be hard i'd imagine... i guess its not.. but.. hard for the pleco to get to it...

Well thats good to hear. make sure that therer is lots of airation in the tank cause the warmer the water then the less oxygen in the water but good to hear he is doing better

Well its over...

I found out why he's doing so bad before.. he had internal injury.. sadly he just died.. I notice that his spine wasn't right... I should have notice it before.. but it wasn't until after that i lifted his spine to see what happen.... it was BROKEN!!

Poor fish.. it must have been like that when he was transported... sigh...:( Another failed attempt....

Thanks for everything everyone.. I' wont give up on these plecos... but probably for a while.. since its hard to find these fish anywhere...

As i mentioned before.. these fish should not be for sale at such a young age..... and probably on my part as well.. I knew he wasn't looking right...

Oh how sad :-( I've tried twice with Gold Nuggets and they've died both times. I won't give up either. L14 are available from vendors online pretty often. You end up spending around $100 counting shipping for a young one. But it's always an option. I'm sorry you lost him.

ya.. I'm thinking about getting 3 from snookn21.. he has it for a nice deal i think.... 3 would be better... only i would need a good tank to restart it... i dunno if i should... i'm VERY tempted... cuz they are like seasonal fish.... they will be gone once its finished...

Aww damn :( sorry to hear that...

I guess there is one brightside...it wasn't your fault and theres probably nothing you could have done for it ...not much of a bright side though...

Goodluck on finding some more.

Before you go on to LECTURE me about L-14 in china or any other plecos for that matter..

I like to point out to the fact that this thread is NOT a general discussion about Plecos or the commonality of L-14... It has nothing to do with that.. no relevant what-so-ever about that. So when u invited yourself to talk about how unrare L-14 it is in China.... i feel that that comment is so unnecessary. And for your information, if you think that for one bit i was being arrorgant.. you are very wrong.. I am here to seek the help from people about how to cure the L-14, which means i am already humbled by MFK members experience and knowledge of curing plecos...

So before you become too supercilious, please consider that i am on MFK NOT to talk about the pleco market, or china's pleco availability. I would be making a thread about L-14 availability or the market of plecos. So please do not defame my post.

I don't need you to berate me because quite frankly, your comments so far are not really about pleco curing, aside from the salt matter.. (which by the way, i understand that salt isn't a good idea)

I am only irritated because you are DERAILING this post, with your discussions about fish availability in China or Hong Kong or Taiwan.. So next time before you jump into conclusions about childishness, please understand that I am seeking help from people.

So I thank you for your comments about how pleco with salt is a bad idea.

the end..

jiapei and zerojquan85, please cut it out and try not to make your comments personal. Agree to disagree but there is no need to personalize your comments.

Ok, let end the disputation, my bad to derail...:naughty:

really bad news... get a new L14 this weekend!

To share some experience on L14, they can get big in size, but they are not as tough as many people may think. the stable L66 is even tougher than L14 when they are the same size.
I used to keep three L14, but one was killed by my wife when I was on a trip, she added excess medicine. every pleco in my tank was all right, even a 2'' L66, but the 5'' L14 just died...
