Uh-oh... Huge angelfish problem, please help me!

I would expect that the ruby shark would be the most likely culprit. But you have to understand that even the tetras could be doing it. Some of the tetras have been known to occasionally get nippy. Also, if your plecos aren't getting enough food, they'll do it to, although they more often go for the body, not the fins. I wouldn't use melafix. Just clean water. Definately get the nitrates down. Fish like clean water. Also, what size is your tank?

i dont like melafix either. its smelly and its effectiveness is questionable.i think it messes up filtration too. hit those water changes and once you solve the cause your angels fins will heal right up. I had an angel that had all its fins nipped off - looked like a floating coin, and she recoverred beautifully.
