Ultima filter on 350 gallon tank with overflow

Is it possible for me to use an ultima filter with my 6x3x3, I understand it has to back wash but is the water above the overflow sufficient for it to be able too?
if not what are my options to make it work?

You can drill a hole or go up and over the top. If you leave the intake to the ultima high up you will only be able to pull but so much water while doing water changes or backwashing
