Back in action!
I'm in the process of setting up a 360 gallon tank. :naughty:

I have a diy 75 gallon wet/dry available. My LFS is carrying the Ultima line and I'm wondering if these filters are that much better than a wet/dry. My LFS is ranting about how well they're working for him on his ray tanks and koi ponds.

Here's the filters. They're not cheap either.

Thoughts? Any good? Better than a wet/dry with capacity for about 25 gallons of bioballs?

actually i going that route too!

regarding these filters any suggestions on the best way to connect 2 or 3 tanks to the filter? 1000 gallons is a lot and if done right could possibly save a lot of money. Just seeing what peoples thoughts are.

There could be a couple of ways to do that. One would be to have a sump where all the tanks feed into it by gravity, or set it up similar to an air pump where the water flows through one line and into each tank off the main line and the same set up for returning the water to the pump. One line out of the filter and one line going into the pump.

The second way I described is how my LFS has set his up.

i have 2-1000g and 1-2000g models and love them.great bio filtraion..i run wet/drys as well with these..:D
i recently bought the 1000g model with 2" fitting brand new on ebay for 300 bucks~i have a 1 1/2" male connector on the backwash connection and can drain my 600g tank litterally in minutes..just connect an 11/2" fire hose, turn valve to backwash and turn on the pump..couldnt be any easier!

1000g pond = 360g Aquarium?
I know it depends on the bio load and other things, but as a guideline, what do you suggest.
Only the ultima in use with RO drip w/c...

i dono if that is true

1000 gallon pond = 360 gallon aquarium

but yes i will be running 24/7 new water dripping and another canister such a fx5 or eheime 2262 as backup...

I am just plumbing in my Ultima II 2000 on my 270g tank. I bought it to use on two tanks but couldn't figure out how to run the overflow from the 270 into the the 320g tanks's sump without having plumbing on the floor (too messy looking). I've decided to use the 2000 on the 270 and am buying a 1000 for the 320g. The 320 has a 60g sump full of pot scrubbers and a XP3 for backup. Later on (when my credit card cools off) I will buy a canister filter as a backup for the 270.

I would have tried out the Ultima 2000 today but I ran out of hose clamps.:irked:

Hey Chaitika, the LFS wouldn't happen to be in Winnipeg, Manitoba would it? That's where I bought mine.
