Ultimatum !!! Help with tank !

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's not ideal but every fish you saved counts. I'm glad that your done with ammonia, do you still have nitrites?

Once again am a bit concerned . My seachem ammonia alert says its safe. My PH alert is at 6.2 PPM. But my API test kit which is fairly new says otherwise .

Readings on API KIT :

8.0 + Ammonia
0 Nitrate
0 Nitrite
6.2 PH

Here is a picture of it, i know the tank still has ammonia because to test it out i bought 2 x Rosy Reds today, i laid them in the tank in a breeder net. 20 minutes later i took them out and their eyes were peeling and turning white. Ammonia burn, remember i added the dosage of tetra Safestart yesterday , should i do a water change to bring ammonia down? Also tested water from tap, its at 2.0 PPM ammonia/chloramine . What to do now ? Isn't the high ammonia killing the BB i added to the tank yesterday ? here is a picture of tank readings

I dont know man.. did you test ammonia yesterday ?

I forgot but you have ammonia in your tap too ?

I would wait for Aquanero or rd to respond. Ideally you wouldnt want to do another wc for a few days atleast but with monia that high idk

No I d

no I didn't test it yesterday since the Seachem ammonia alert its showing no signs of ammonia or just a slight amount . still in the safe Colo. But when I tested today with api is reading 8.0 ammonia, I know my aro is uncomfortable in that tank , should I do water change ? Even thou I added BB bottles yesterday . the ammonia is hurting the fish

Did we rule out the tests being bunk? Time constraints keep me from scanning. Test literally every day, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Do frequent small water changes. I would probably do 10-15% everyday, depending on the test results.

Even though I dosed the tank with BB? Wouldn't new water mess the whole thing up ?

It will slow down for sure, but I would trade a slower cycle for the lives of my fish. You didn't mention about the test kit, I feel like it would of been covered but I'm shocked you have no detectable nitrites.

The test on the left is high range ph followed by ammonia, nitrite, and finally nitrate I think. Is that placing your ph super high then?
