Probably, but he eats like a pig and does just fine. The muddy water in which they live in the wild are practically pitch black at the bottom, so their sense of smell is what really matters.

Very rare and nice fish even without eyes like you said he has whiskers and uses those as his eyes. Good luck on the sell. Too bad he is this large and one reason why I think know one has picked him up yet.

Brilliant deduction genius, but I never said he was missing his eyes. He has what appear to be small eyes without pigment in the sockets that are probably not functional.

Show me a close up of these eyes, because all I see is an empty socket with a skin flap. This will effect the price of the fish and buyers should be notified.
