Ultramel Corn Snakes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Personally i would not chose bark as it can be irritating to the snakes scales and can be accidentally swallowed with food causing impaction.

i wount with corns , maybe smaller snakes or decorative snakes like green snakes or tree boas as the feces is hard to spot at times in it and it would be harder to disinfect it /

If you remove the snake to feed it, your substrate options open up. This also helps prevent the snake biting you, as it won't associate the tank lid opening with food coming in.

You could use coco bedding or wood chips for something darker. Even sand or gravel will work, though you will need to be sure to have large hides as the snake can't burrow in these substrates. Feces can also work their way down into the gravel, though if your snake is like my kingsnakes, he'll insist on pooping in his water dish anyways, so it won't matter.

NO DIY substrate. lol.. its more trouble then its worth.

anyways, i need some opinions on tank size. my options are:

40 Breeder, 36 x 18 x 16''

40 Long, 48 x 12 x 16''

45 Gallon, 36 x 12 x 23 ''

45 Long , 48 x 12 x 19''

50 Gallon, 36 x19 x19''

55 Gallon, 48 x 12 x 21''

which would be better and why?

bigger is better because they are active snakes and more room is more room. That's my opinion. Most would say you could house an adult corn in any of them though, so it's really your choice. I'd choose maybe the 40 breeder of 50 maybe the 40 long. But like I said, could keep it it any of them I guess.
