Umbee Ascension!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Even if the umbee doesnt harm the red devil now, it will once it gets big enough. Putting it in with the RD hopefully helps but really umbees are going to need their own tank from what I've read. I have some now that I'm growing out but am planning on splitting them up as they get bigger

So what about when your aggressive umbee challenges him? I'm sure a 7 year old red devil has a lot of bulk on the umbee so you will probably end up with a hurt or dead fish. Just give the umbee a home of his own he deserves it!

I agree. I know eventually I will have to give him is own place but for now it buys me some time.

If the aggression is too bad, you can always make a cheap divider out of egg crate as a temporary solution

Thanks for the compliments on the Umbee. I'm hoping to get him all beasted out in the the coming year so I can post a picture of him
in the Umbee comparison thread and represent for the Rio Mag variant.

I have an 8 inch Umbee that has grown and killed or tried to killed every cichlid he has outgrown. I've had him now for sometime with
a 14 inch Red Devil and a 8 inch Blue Flowerhorn. All other cichlids have been removed because of the Umbee. He was best of friends
with the Flowerhorn until recently when he caught up in size. They really beat each other up. The Flowerhorn won the fight but it
really only seems temporary. I've separated them to heal, which they have. This all happend in my 250 gallon aquarium.
Funny how I went from a community cichlid aquarium of 12 to only 3 to separating them in to other aquariums.
Talk about tank buster. LOL. I seems like I always end up with 5 or 6 tanks when it comes to cichlids but I won't have it any
other way. Just wanted to share my recent experience.
