I forget where i posted a topic about target fish for an umbee ,but i got some tin foils for 'him' (pretty sure this one is i a male) to chase.( Reason was-when i first got all 5 umbees they fought to much and i had to seperate with in a week-then my biggest one went into hiding alot)Anyways I quarantined 2 tin foil barbs and yesterday moring put them in the tank w/ my biggest umbee (about 5")I woke up to find one had completly vanished and the other was headless and stuck to my filter intake  .lol i didnt expect them to last forever but kinda thought theyd be around more then 24hrs.Im a little worried about the umbee though -I not someone that uses feeders so ..anyone have any suggestions ? Should I not feed him today? Just worried if this fish is gonna get sick now ..hes cruising the tank just fine and seems fat and happy ..lol am i just worring for nothing?

I think it will be fine, eating fish is what they do, you might skip feedings for a day or two.

thanks for the reply Guppy,ok then Ill just fast him for a day or two.I forgot to mention these tinfoils were almost as big as the umbee.Heres a terrible pic i took this morning -doesnt do justice at all and the flash makes everything look yellow but you can see how fat this fish looks lol

Don't cha just hate that when they eat their dither fish?! Well, now you know not to use tin foil barbs....perhaps silver dollars will work. Try a group of 6...lol...be harder for him to lock onto a bigger moving group...;)

how big of a tank is he in now? i bet he'd still take out the silver dollars :D
hes in a 6'x18" tank I have it divided w/ a couple more tinfoils on one smaller side of the divider. It was kinda an experiment to put the two in with him cause he wasnt showing much interest in the ones on the other side of the divider.Yeah I dont know about silver dollars -my experience w/ them hasnt been so great ,I had two before that would just sit there and take a beating (when i tried them as dithers w/ a cichlid) It was frustrating and heatbreaking so i ended up moving them.

yeah eventually ill move this fish either to a 240g or my 360g-I just got another idea tho -blood parrots! I have a bunch and they make great dithers for my female dovii and some other big aggressive cichlids ...hmmm... only thing is my blood parrots are a little bigger then the umbee,im gonna think about this one and maybe when i have a whole day to obeserve I might try...what you guys think? good idea ?
