I dug up some photos of my last F1 umbee I got from another local vendor.

I am amazed at the difference between the F1 offspring from The General vs the F1 offspring from a different wild pair.

Keep in mind Jr General is at 4.5 inches in his photos and the other F1 umbee was at 6.5 inches in his photos. The 6.5 incher is at an advantage due to more maturity.

Amazing , the difference in blue spangling , fin ray extensions and blue on the bodies of the 2 fish.

This is proof that The General and his lady have incredible genes.

I feel very lucky that Ira (The wish list) hooked me up with an F1 from The General.

Go into the "umbee update" topic started by freshwaterpredators.

That topic should be just a few topics below this 1.

Enjoy videos and photos of the legendary General.

Which fish is which? Are they kept in same tank and conditions? Lighting seems different.

BTW nice fishes. Would love to keep a Umbee again one day. The 12" I had 7-8yrs ago was most outgoing cichlid I have ever own.

The 1 & 3 pick would be the 6.5 incher
the 2 & 4 is General jr.
I have a TON of juvies from the general , so I know the body profile, coloration ect.

He is looking AWESOME Bro ! Keep up the great work !

Cakilla clarified which fish is which.

I don't have the 6.5 inch umbee anymore. I traded him to a local vendor before Jr General came along.

As for conditions , well its the same tank , gravel , lighting , etc.

What you see is the total difference between the gene pools. No trick photography or manipulation.

Here are some old pics of The General, in my opinion one of the most beautiful umbees in the hobby today. The pair is wild caught from Rio Magdelena and as Cakilla said the off spring all look fantastic.

the light is hitting the fish @ different angles and @ different levels as you can see in the pics (pics have different brightness).....

not taking from the General Jr. as he is a very nice fish indeed

All the juvies from that pair is incredibly freckled and had a great body profile,
i wish I had a camera to take some picks of All of the juvies I have ( 50+)
So I can start selling some of them, having 50 and being 3 - 5 inches they are taking up a TON! of tank space.
They are scattered between 4 - 55's, 1-75, 300 gallon pond
