I like Geroge's umbee. Nice clean predatory body style. Not all overfed.

George, when you bred then what did you feed the fry? I just got a couple F1 umbees at just over an inch, they're being really picky on food right now.
At an inch I grow them out on NLS "Grow" pellets, crushed freeze dried krill and frozen foods as a treat a few times a week. Never had a problem feeding Umbees a high protien diet.
As adults mine eat a few pellets a day, once a day. Clean water and a varied high quality diet is what makes them grow not over feeding.
Thanks for the heads up on the small pair, I'll have them on Tuesday.:D

Great, I figured you'd be all over them!

Right now I'm feeding them some floating Hikari cichlid excel and some Omega one sinking marine pellets (all I have that they can eat size wise). I've got the next couple days off and some store credit so I'll go pick up some NLS.

i see there is a huge difference in size with the pair , are there any aggression problems?
Yes there is! Every once in a while he gets crazy and chases her around the tank but she has plenty of places to take cover until he calms down. It's funny to watch them, it becomes obvious when she's ready to lay eggs because she won't back down to him. They've been together since they were about 5". I believe she's stunted from constantly breeding.

Glade you like the head George but as far as over weight:ROFL:you are both crazy! This is just the product of good fish keeping;) I also said soon to be heavy weight champ not current. Still though I look forward to those pics you say you will get. Just to set the record straight. I have kept Umbee's over 14'' before and at that size they should be bulkier than the one I see here. The torpedo shape is supposed to leave them as they age. Umbee should be large massively built fish when they mature, remember they are not Dovii:D. Perhaps you should referrance this fact with some of the wild ones I posted here not long ago. You will see what I mean. Still both fish are impressive and I mean not to take away from either's brilliance, but I think the pics here speak load enough for themselves so enough said.
On another note Modestman:ROFL: your entitled to your opinion of course and if your are liking or tast encompass modest Umbee than so be it. It shows by the selection of your own;) Me on the other hand I like flash. The brighter the umbee, the more freaking, the better the quality that is a rule everyone knows and it is no secret, but I can see how this might hurt your eye's. I can understand it must be dark up there..

I apreciate the pics and the lesson UMBEEKING! As they say,"beauty is in the eye of the beholder". By the way recent pics are on the previous page. He's at around 15-16" now.

No that's not the one I am referring to, that one was Jeff Rapps style F13 he kept a while back. This is the one I am talking about son. Meet Lazerith 8'' wild umbee, that is umbee power son..
