Thats an awesome divider, where did you get that from? I think I rememeber someone selling them on here last year or so...

Thanks MB! It's actually a DIY divider. Got the thicker 1/4" acrylic from Lowe's, traced a grid pattern on the protective factory plastic and used my plunge router to make the holes. Cleaner than using a drill and much faster. Plan on making some 36" dividers for the larger tanks and might look for a larger router bit. Those suction cups are amazing and the 1/4" acrylic fits nice and snug.

Beautiful Umbees! Thanks for sharing the info on your DIY divider that is light years better looking and safer on the fish than an egg crate divider. Did you get the suction cups also from Lowes?

Acrylic is great for dividing large males, but i do find that it tends to cut the water flow off to the other side of the tank. Are you running across that problem at all?

I do agree with a sheet of acrylic cutting down the water flow... this specific tank has an overflow box that spans 8"x5" across the back and the acrylic splits down the center of the box so in theory it drains the same amount of water on both sides of the tank. If I had a tank that didn't have an overflow box, I would have made the divider with larger holes than the .5".... assuming that the fish is also larger than the holes.

I'm a huge fan of egg crate and use it when applicable. BUT in my experience if the fish is overly aggressive, the constant ramming against the divider causes damages to the mouth of the fish. Egg crate allows maximum flow but more importantly it's worth its weight in gold when you can buy and cut verses drilling 60 holes! :)
