The Tem wont try and eat...especially if breeding..like I said...will go straight to ramming the umbee...
 
A umbee would win any raming contest they grow huge humps tems not as big proportionaly and who's to say the umbee would let that happen he might just lock up on the tems lips and go to the bottom and hold him down i vote umbee umbee umbee and if the umbee don't win i'll jump in hahaha.:ROFL: :headbang2 :ROFL: :headbang2 :grinno:

You must have not kept or seen the power of Cichla. It doesn't matter if Umbie get big humps on their heads. They just don't have the power of a Cichla.

But see the debate was a full grown breeding tem and a full grown breeding umbie.
 
I know I just thought I would make it more fair ;) I mean once a pbass gets what probably past 30"they are packin a pound every inch probably. I would still like to see it though :P But it would be too much of a shame to lose either species at those sizes
 
Umbee would win, no doubt. They are built for killing anything, even larger fish. P bass don't have much in the way of teeth and jaw power compared to umbees. P bass would have to be able to swallow an umbee to win. And btw, it's possible for a male umbee to hit 3'. Doubt that's possible in the home aquarium without a tank that's 1000+ gallons, lol. I'll try to find a pic of an umbee that was in a public aquarium with a ton of other giant fish. It was pretty big itself. at least 2'.

Have you kept a Cichla larger than 20" before? You don't even know the power Cichla have.
