Ok I just noticed this bout a week ago and I have no clue what it is. It has been there for almost a month from the pics that I took almost a month ago. It was about the same size there too. Idk if it’s a parasite or backteria or maybe puss behind the eye. Please help I rly don’t wanna lose him. He is an Adonis pleco and is about 7-8 inches long ( if you count the tail)
Please ask questions.
Thanks.

Don’t know what it is. Could be a growth. I’d imagine an infection wouldn’t last a month. Esp if it’s acting normal.

If it persist you could try kanamycin or raise the temps and add aquarium salt. I wouldn't mix the two!

Hello; I do not know what the problem may be but there is risk using antibiotics as a just in case treatment. Antibiotics are not a cure all and can be the wrong medication. There is the risk of creating antibiotic resistant bacteria.
If you do go this route at least do so in a small hospital tank or bucket. Requires smaller dose and does not kill off the beneficial bacteria in the main tank.

Also raising the temperature has some risk in that if the problem is bacterial or fungal the higher temps can be more favorable for there growth and might make the problem worse.

Salt likely the better choice in that it will not do much harm even if it does not help.

Be patient. Someone may have an answer. Also lasting over a month already is a clue.

I believe there might be a thread on here and if not, try another forum. See what comes up! I've fixed problems almost similar, but on the body of a pleco. Might be a different growth, might be the same. Also what's mentioned above about placing in a hospital tank will help, but make sure you keep a lot oxygen inside if you're going with the salt treatment.

Yeah I put 10 tablespoons of salt in the 55 gallon aquarium ( my main tank because if there was more growth in the tank I wanted to get rid of it) so I hope that helps some

It's a good start and do more frequent water changes. Hope things work out! A full tank cleansing is always a plus, then isolation if it don't get better. :)
