Yep, looks like a bumblebee. If oscars would stay that shape I would totally get one. Unfortunately they get all lumpy and hunchbacked as they get older, which I don't find very attractive at all. Oh well.

That's only when they are raised in too small a tank. If they are given proper care, feeding and plenty of space they don't get nearly as fugly. Sadly, most Oscars are probably raised in 75 gallons or less.

In my opinion the one in your avitar looks better, I know it's colors are much more common though. I guess its just a matter of taste.
Thanks! I need to get another pic when he is really dark black with the red, he looked a bit blotchy then!

He is in a tank with a black background now and it is doing the trick, just need my camera back!

I agree Oscars should be housed in 100+ gallon tanks to grow to full potential. I have seen grown bumblebee oscars and they are amazing. Made me go out and buy two oscars from Jeff Rapps. Unfortuneately one of the Oscars just want to rip the other one apart. I had to put the aggressor in the refugium. Wish I knew how to put a classified on MFK! If anyone is interested to buy PM me. :)
